About us

Agora Barcelona International School is an international private school which forms part of the Globeducate group. The school prides itself on educational innovation, excellent academic performance, great pastoral care and personalised attention to the requirements of each individual student. We offer a diverse, trilingual, secular curriculum, built on core values and respectful of the beliefs of every family within our community.Furthermore, as part of the Agora family of schools, with a total of 7 private and international schools, we live a constant process to achieve educational excellence which began 50 years ago in schools in Cataluña, the Balearic Islands, Madrid, Andalucía, Comunidad Valenciana and Andorra. Our aim is to prepare our pupils academically and personally for an international future; our children will become citizens of a globalised and ever-changing world which will require them to be well-prepared, flexible, determined and resourceful. The school focuses on educational innovation, based on strong underlying core values, encouraging each student to achieve their maximum academic and personal potential in a happy, caring and supportive environment.

Our philosophy is truly international in character and an “international education” forms one of the core principles upon which the Globeducate group is founded. Globeducate group operates in 10 countries, owning and running more than 55 schools. This allows us to enrich our educational proposal with international experiences such as boarding or summer schools in Spain, Andorra or the United Kingdom.

Our methodology

At Agora Barcelona International School we are convinced that a complete education should not be understood as the sum of different areas, but as the result of the global integration of all of them. For this reason, at Agora Barcelona, the education given to students is global in nature. We are dedicated to preparing citizens of the world, with all the necessary skills to face the professional challenges they may encounter throughout their working lives.

We encourage integration, as all our students form a unique community in which every way of thinking has a place, always within the values of respect and education towards other people.

Our facilities, equipped with everything necessary to meet the needs of our project and comprehensive training at each stage, play an important role in our methodology. Our aim is training people capable of achieving academic and personal success.

Families, Pupils, Teachers and Alumni

Families

Family and school are two fundamental aspects of a child’s life; we understand the importance of the home/school relationship and actively encourage positive and constructive communication with our pupils’ families.

At Agora Barcelona International School we want to help families to find a balance between the demands of family, work and school. We offer extended school hours for those families that need to take advantage of this service and the school runs a comprehensive transport service to help to make life a little easier.
Parents are invited to attend regular parent’s meetings to monitor their child’s academic progress and identify particular strengths or weaknesses, and are provided with an academic report at the end of each term.

We encourage parents to engage with the school throughout all stages of their child’s education and families are also invited to attend or participate in various extra events held at the School such as Halloween or Carnival and international events such as the Globeducate Olympic Games.

We also have an active Parents Association, AMPA (Asociación de Madres y Padres de Alumnos) where the Mothers, Fathers and Legal Guardians of our students get together to organise the ways in which families can become more actively involved in the education of their children and forge closer links with the school.

Pupils

Agora Barcelona International School aims to educate pupils to operate confidently and successfully in the world as it is today, with a solid academic background and the inter-personal skills that they will need to achieve their long-term goals. Our pupils leave school equipped to embrace the international community, with a mastery of languages, an outstanding education in music, sports and arts, and a solid grounding in the core values and key attributes promoted throughout their experience with us.

At each stage of their educational journey from Nursery to final graduation, pupils are encouraged to develop academically, socially and personally, and are continually supported by staff, parents and the wider school community. We pride ourselves on the individual attention given to each of our students. Each of our pupils is special with their own skills, strengths and characteristics; our aim is to ensure that our students are motivated and happy during their educational journey with us, and to help them be the best that they can be.

From Nursery to graduation we prepare our students to take their place and live happily and successfully within the global community.

Teachers

We have a selected teaching staff who are responsible for transmitting their enthusiasm and passion. Each student is an individual and unique being, which is why we offer personalised attention with support programmes that promote motivation, stimulation and self-improvement. We make each pupil the protagonist in this complex process of development.

English is the school's flagship language and for this reason most subjects are taught in English. Teachers teach entirely in English and ensure that pupils also communicate with each other in English. In order to provide the best possible language teaching, we employ teachers who are native English speakers or bilingual, or who have spent long periods of time in English-speaking countries.

Alumni

Former pupils of Agora Barcelona International School have a very special place in our hearts as they have contributed so much to the formation and development of our school. We are proud of their successes and achievements, and we love to hear what our “old girls and boys” are up to as they continue their journey into the wider world.
