National Baccalaureate

At the end of the Secondary school stage, our students can choose to study either the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme or the Spanish Baccalaureate.Whatever their chosen path, we equip students with the means to succeed in the next stage of their education.

Ensuring success

Agora Barcelona International School provides the option of studying four branches of the Spanish Baccalaureate. These are: Humanities, Social Sciences, Health Sciences and Science and Technology. The subjects studied in each branch of the Bachillerato have been designed to help our pupils gain entry to the greatest number of degrees possible, both at Catalan universities and at universities all over the rest of Spain.

We teach our Baccalaureate pupils with a structured and ambitious approach to ensure that each student achieves their goals and can successfully move on to further education. We place great importance on experimental work in the laboratory, and on learning languages. We participate in international projects in which the languages used are English, German or French and take an active part in prestigious arts and science competitions designed to help foster inquisitive and pioneering minds.

We steer our Baccalaureate students towards the reality of university life by encouraging them to attend informative Open Days organised by different universities. To this effect, basing our guidance on tests and exercises from the classroom and from the Educational Psychology Department, we help our Bachillerato students choose the most appropriate option according to their abilities and strengths.

Both the Spanish Baccalaureate and International Baccalaureate programmes include pre-university courses which help pupils to identify their strengths and weaknesses and work out a possible career path. Over the two academic years of the Baccalaureate we carry out “Dialogue Coaching”, which involves 10 sessions during which pupils take part in a series of activities to help them work out the most suitable and fulfilling life path for them. Following the University Entrance Exams (P.A.U), we offer a Work Experience programme which brings our pupils closer to the reality of the professional world through a placement in a company.

We help our Baccalaureate students successfully move on to whatever further education plan that they have chosen, help them to make the best choices and to find the most appropriate universities. We believe that it is very important to offer our students the widest scope of available possibilities and resources needed to succeed both personally and professionally. The Bachillerato Programme prepares them to become what they want to be, because whatever they decide, they will be well prepared.
