The International Baccalaureate (IB) at Agora Barcelona

María Alcaide, Baccalaureate Coordinator at Agora IS Barcelona, ​​highlights the advantages of this internationally respected diploma, which is designed to prepare students, both academically and professionally, for confidently stepping out to take their place within the global community.

Firstly noting that in the context of the school’s overall international vision, the IB is an excellent choice for our students at Post 16. The courses are taught mainly in English and as Agora International School Barcelona forms part of the internationally renowned Nace Schools group, students get the opportunity to attend overseas events organised by the group. This enables our students to meet up with other young people from around the world, providing a unique opportunity for the development of knowledge, understanding and experience in an international forum.

The IB covers all subject groups and it is therefore not necessary for the students define their educational itinerary right from the start. The IB qualification is internationally recognised and thus provides access to all the major universities world-wide. It is also accepted as a validated qualification for entry to Spanish and Catalan Universities and it is not therefore necessary for IB students to present for Selectividad (the examinations generally required for entry to Universities in Spain).

In short, Agora IS Barcelona can deliver the IB in Spanish and English enabling our students to obtain a bilingual Diploma. We also offer a Pre-University programme designed specifically  to prepare our Post-16 students for life beyond school and which includes talks given by experts in their field, international debating competitions, personal coaching and much more, all delivered by highly-qualified professionals supported by excellent resources and facilities.
